Dungeons & Dames retreats are designed to be immersive, joyful weekends full of storytelling, friendship, incredible food, beautiful spaces, and the particular kind of magic that happens when a group of adventurers gathers around a table together.
We also know that attending a multi-day retreat is a significant expense.
The Adventurer Fund exists for members of our community who genuinely want to experience a Dungeons & Dames retreat but for whom the cost of a ticket creates a meaningful barrier.
You do not need to prove that you are struggling enough.
You do not need to tell us your entire financial history.
And you definitely do not need to write the saddest story.
Instead, we want to know you.
Tell us why you want to join the adventure, what attending would mean to you, and a little about the person who would be taking that seat at our table.
What can the adventurer fund cover?
Adventurer Fund awards are intended primarily to help with the cost of a Dungeons & Dames retreat ticket.
Depending on the amount available in the fund and the needs of that particular application cycle, awards may take the form of:
A Full Adventure
A fully funded retreat ticket.
A Helping Hand
A partial scholarship applied toward the cost of a retreat ticket.
A Final Push
A smaller award designed to close the remaining gap between an adventurer and their ticket.
Available awards may vary from retreat to retreat depending on the balance of the Adventurer Fund.
Unless specifically stated otherwise for a particular award, the fund does not cover transportation, airfare, optional retreat add-ons, merchandise, or other personal travel expenses.

Your application begins with a story
This is Dungeons & Dames, after all.
Rather than treating the Adventurer Fund like a traditional scholarship essay, our application combines a few practical questions with a little storytelling.
You may be asked things like:
-Which upcoming Dungeons & Dames retreat would you like to attend?
-What draws you to Dungeons & Dames?
-What would receiving an Adventurer Fund award make possible for you?
-What level of assistance would make attending realistic?
-Tell us a little about the adventurer who would be arriving at our doors.
-And, because every good quest needs one: a small story-driven prompt just for fun.
You don’t need to be a writer.
There are no bonus points for perfect prose.
We simply want to hear from the person behind the application.
How are adventurers chosen?
Every application will be reviewed with care.
The Adventurer Fund is not first-come, first-served, and awards are not based on who can demonstrate the greatest hardship.
Instead, we consider the complete application, including financial need, the impact an award would have on the applicant’s ability to attend, and the applicant’s connection to the spirit of the Dungeons & Dames community.
Our goal is simple:
Use the resources entrusted to the Adventurer Fund to create opportunities that would not otherwise exist.
Award decisions are made privately, and information shared through an application will be treated with respect.
The Adventurer Fund grows in two ways:
